Oral Health During Pregnancy: Why It Matters

Good oral health is especially important during pregnancy. Hormonal changes can increase the risk of gum inflammation, gingivitis, and periodontal disease, which have been associated with complications such as low birth weight and preterm birth. Pregnancy can also make existing dental issues worsen more quickly. Maintaining daily brushing and flossing, eating a balanced diet, and seeing a dentist for routine care help protect both the mother’s health and the baby’s well-being.
